Hello From Taiwan

It's very wet! We're having lots of fun though. Uncle and Felix have been showing us a great time! I love the food. Still getting used to the humidity though. And the bug bites.

Here are some pics:

Greetings from Rhode Island

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted sooner...this week/this summer has been exhausting. The semester just started at Brown, and this is my busiest semester yet. I'm taking two classes, teaching for the first time, holding an editorial assistantship for the Journal of Linguistics and Philosophy (my advisor is the Editor-in-Chief), and also finishing my first year project (it's sort of like a prelim or qualifying paper).

I don't have anything too interesting to say right now; just wanted to poke my head in and say hi. I have a (mostly research) blog at http://some-antics.com , pictures at http://flickr.com/photos/e-mma/ and a bunch of other Web2.0-y stuff linked from my blog.

Byyyeeeee for now.

We're Home and We're Healthy

Everything's well. We're home now and Gloria's back to normal, and we're seeing if we can plan a trip back to Taiwan from September 18-October 3. That's NEXT WEEK!

So maybe I'll see you soon, Felix!

Here are some pics of me breaking, and I'll put up some vids as soon as my camera's file format is fixed.

Cheers! Felix

Hurray for Felix and the Family Blog!

This family blog is really a great idea. Thanks, Felix!

You all probably know that Gloria's been in the hospital for video EEG monitoring. She has twenty-five wires attached to her head and a camera watching her 24/7 so that they can monitor her seizures. She was admitted on Aug. 28, 2007 and had a fairly peaceful week. During that time, they were lowering the doses of her medication to induce seizures. It took a while for the seizures to kick in, but they finally did.

The last two days have been rough. Gloria's had approximately 25 seizures since then. They're occurring about every hour, lasting about 30-45 seconds each. She's in a safe environment, and now the focus is just on getting her stabilized. We don't know how much longer it will take before her brain and body finally calm down, but she'll probably still be in the hospital through the weekend.

In between her seizures she is coherent and can talk, which is a good sign, but is very sleepy.

Mom's been staying at the hospital with her the entire time. I visit during the daytime hours.

I'd ask for you all to pray for Gloria, but I know you're all doing it already, so THANK YOU.

We love you all and in case you can't get a hold of Mom on her cell phone, you can also call them at the hospital at 310-267-1572. This number goes directly to a private line in their room.

Hopefully, I'll have good news over the weekend.

In case some of you didn't get my Picasa invite, here's the link to some pics of us at the hospital:

P.S. In case you guys are wondering (and I'm sure you're all anxious), Tommy and I will be getting married next August. (August 8, 2008 to be exact... 888, get it?) So save the date!
